A journey through Virginia’s Mountain Playground

Wolf Creek Runs Wild is a collaborative community race event presented by New River Runners, the Town of Narrows, and Giles County Tourism.

This unique partnership brings together local running enthusiasts, municipal leadership, and regional tourism expertise to create an unforgettable race experience that showcases the natural beauty of our area. Together, we're committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, celebrating our landscape, and inviting visitors to discover why Giles County is Virginia's Mountain Playground.

With a goal of 250 participants, this event promises to showcase the natural beauty of our region while fostering community connection and healthy competition.

The proceeds from this event will be donated to support outdoor recreation and this year’s beneficiary will be Mill Creek Nature Park.

Join us for an unforgettable 5K & 10K race experience alongside the scenic Wolf Creek and a fun after-party at the Narrows Town Park.

More Than Just a Race

Our event offers more than just a standard 5k & 10k timed race—it's a celebration of community and place that extends far beyond the finish line. We're creating a destination event that showcases the best of Giles County, culminating in a vibrant after-party in the heart of Narrows featuring food, music, and meaningful opportunities for connection.

We're crafting an experience that showcases the best of our area. Our vision is to establish a premier annual tradition that creates such a memorable impression that participants eagerly return year after year, bringing friends and family to share in this distinctive celebration of community, wellness, and place.

Supporting Mill Creek Nature Park

While we will be running and walking along Wolf Creek, there’s another creek in Narrows that we love: Mill Creek Nature Park.

Mill Creek Nature Park is 140+ acres adjoining Narrows and Jefferson National Forest. This property offers miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, beautiful waterfalls, and fishing for native trout in a pristine mountain stream.

Mill Creek Nature Park has a rich history and a bright future. We’re excited to donate all the proceeds from our race to support trail improvements and signage for hiking at Mill Creek.

Ralph Robertson has built miles of trails in Mill Creek Nature Park. Here he shares about Mill Creek and New River Land Trust shares about a recent grant that will enable improvements for the nature park.
